Senior Rails Engineer

Pulse

We are looking for a new team member to work on and contribute to the Pulse backend architecture. Someone that can untangle complex problems and solve them in a polished, elegant and delightful way for athletes and fans. You'll get a chance to contribute to our early-stage product and will be able to influence and shape a new, video platform from the ground up. We value positive work ethics, a high level of self-organization, and self-governance in our team.

We don't differentiate between engineering and design, and you'll work in a tightly integrated squad to craft a well integrated and optimal experience for our users (ourselves). You'll help shape what we build, and define what inputs we need to to identify new opportunities, test new technologies and deliver a platform that is well designed, pragmatic and scalable ❤.

ABOUT YOU

  • You have experience working on a complex, scalable backend architecture that serves a large number of users
  • You have great communication skills and are experienced in working in a remote-first environment on a distributed team
  • You can formulate and explain complex decision-making processes that impact customers, product, and business
  • You are willing and open to try, push and explore new technologies
  • You can break down large projects into digestible parts and present viable options for each component
  • You are experienced and comfortable in Ruby, and Rails
  • You're intimately familiar with building on AWS
  • Useful if you've worked with ElasticSearch and Cassandra before
  • Bonus points if you've worked with streaming video at scale before

We're all curious and want to pick up new programming languages - we look for likeminded people who are comfortable to share learnings with their peers.

Bonus point if you love outdoor / adventure sports. But not a requirement
