Senior Software Engineer, Platform
Gremlin
We are looking for a driven and empathetic engineer to embody our core values in building and managing a growing Platform of tooling and automation to support our application. You’ll be responsible for helping us determine the best way to bridge gaps in our automation so that we scale our deployments for greater reliability and efficiency. This role will deliver high-quality software with great predictability and work closely with team members across the company to understand and guide the shape of our platform architecture.
Gremlin’s Reliability Management Platform enables customers to proactively improve reliability by building resilience to failures and getting better at incident response. Gremlin’s platform team designs and implements simple, resilient, observable systems to help meet this goal.
In this role you’ll get to:
- Design and implement modern infrastructure using AWS and Kubernetes with automation via Terraform
- Continually improve site observability by tuning monitored metrics and tooling
- Build system-level regression and performance testing infrastructure which closely models production
- Improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines using CircleCI and FluxCD
- Impact developer experience by participating in sprints, automating release processes, and enabling self-service test environments
We’ll expect you to have:
- 5+ years of DevOps and/or Site Reliability experience
- Experience with cloud-based environments AWS and Kubernetes specifically
- Proficiency with a major imperative programming language (such as Go, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, etc )
- Ability to oversee and mentor junior engineers
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
- Curiosity about the latest industry trends
- Self-guided with exceptional collaboration, communication, and leadership skills
Bonus Experience:
- Built a DevOps or Site Reliability practice from scratch
- Time as a Chaos engineering practitioner
