Web Development

OptiRTC, Inc.

Want to help an environmentally responsible company that’s changing the way cities deal with flood mitigation? Opti, on optimizing stormwater management, is seeking a Web Development Intern to join our team. The position is open to start as soon as possible.

Opti provides a cloud platform and products for Continuous Monitoring and Adaptive Control (CMAC), enabling communities to continuously improve stormwater management by delivering real-time visibility, adaptively controlling assets, and supporting smart city initiatives. With more than 160 deployments across the US and over 100 million gallons of storage under active management, Opti is the leading provider of digital solutions for stormwater management.

Our Marketing Team is responsible for guiding Opti’s go-to-market strategy and the effective articulation of the company’s value proposition to customers, partners, and prospects. We have developed a new visual layout and graphic artwork for our website at https://optirtc.com, and we are looking for a capable web developer to translate that design into the final site without revamping its underlying technology.

Responsibilities

Create 5 new Jekyll template pages with our already-developed new design and copy. These pages must:

Be responsive to fit 3 viewports (graphic artwork for these 3 viewports has already been produced).

Be implemented in standard HTML, CSS, and Javascript.

Avoid unnecessary libraries, 3rd party dependencies, iframes, javascript, and complexity. Support IE11 and current distributions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari.

Be compatible with the current CloudCannon (https://cloudcannon.com/) build system.

Pass existing spell-checking and best practices built into our deployment pipeline.

Use Git to track your changes to our existing website and submit changes for review via Opti's Github organization repository.

Implement an interactive element on one of the pages that uses CSS and Javascript to show and hide elements of an SVG when a user hovers over them (SVG already prepared).

Adapt the styling of our existing template to match the new design.

Update the sitemap document to reflect the layout.

Use the Google Search Console to discover technical issues impacting SEO and resolve any issues causing “poor Urls” or “Url Needs Improvement” (in the Core Web Vitals), and any Errors flagged as Mobile Usability issues.

Ensure new pages meet our performance criteria:

Lighthouse performance tests must meet or exceed current baselines:

Score 98 or higher on lighthouse desktop performance.

Score 89 or higher on lighthouse mobile performance.

Score 83 or higher performance on: https://web.dev/measure/.
