Job Description (describe the day-to-day):

Jacobs is looking for a full time Software\Standard Manager Engineer responsible for providing JINTACCS operational and technical management support to the HQDA G6, Joint Interoperability of Tactical Command & Control Systems (JINTACCS) Branch Department of the Army Network Integration\Network Services Interoperability (DANI-NSI).

 

Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Mission execution in the following area(s): Software/Standards Developer.
  • Supports Army management of with Variable Message Format (VMF) messaging standard (US-MIL-STD-6017). 
  • Familiar with the Combat Net Radio (CNR) protocols (US MIL STD 2045-47001 and US MIL STD 188-220).
  • Assists in the design, development, and maintenance of standards and/or systems that use VMF and or CNR Protocols.
  • Works with program manager representatives and combat developers to understand their operational and technical analytic or interface requirements. 
  • Assists in developing interface change proposals and interface change evaluations to manage standard configuration control. 
  • Assists in standards design, development, and testing for operating systems-level solutions to Army-wide JINTACCS standards implementation requirements.
  • Assists in setting tactical data link and messaging operational specifications and analyzing requirements for standards configuration control management.
  • Participates in development working groups, configuration control boards, and technical review panels.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Qualifications

  • Understanding/knowledge of Army standard configuration control management and integration with Joint level standards configuration control planning.
  • Ability to manage and apply Combat Net Radio (CNR) protocols (US MIL STD 2045-47001 and US MIL STD 188-220) standards.
  • Ability to design, development and testing of operating systems-level solutions integrating VMF and or CNR Protocols at the Army/Joint/Multinational levels.
  • Ability to work with program manager representatives and combat developers to understand their technical and operational VMF and or CNR Protocols standards analytic or interface integration requirements.
  • Must be able to develop standard interface change proposals and interface change evaluations to maintain standards configuration control management.
  • Ability to provide standards management support in setting operational and technical specifications and analyze implementation requirements
  • Must be able to develop working groups, configuration control boards, and technical review panels.
  • Must be self-starter, willing to take complete ownership of complex technical problems

 

Desired Requirements (nice to have but not required):

  • Familiarity with the Armies of America, Britain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand (ABCANZ) program preferred.
  • Should be able to think clearly and articulate with appropriate level of abstraction his/her thought process on complex technological issues.
  • Familiarity with joint standards management.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint “out of the box”.

Physical Requirements:

Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

 

Work Environment:

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

 

Equipment & Machines:

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.

 

Attendance:

Attendance is always critical . Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday.  However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.

Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Must be well-organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Must be willing to travel as needed. Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.
